School of Engineering, Pokhara University Signs Two MoUs with South Korean Institutions

The School of Engineering (SoE), Pokhara University, today (February 2, 2026) successfully signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with reputed South Korean institutions, marking an important step toward strengthening international academic collaboration and global engagement.

The MoUs were signed with:

  1. Sport Science Institute of Dankook University, South Korea, and
  2. The Korean Academy of Hot Springs, South Korea.

The South Korean delegation included Prof. Kim Ki Hong, President of the Korean Academy of Hot Springs, and Prof. Kim Yeon Hee, Head of the Department of Semiconductor Engineering, Hoseo University, South Korea. The delegation was also accompanied by two postgraduate students.

From the Nepalese side, the program was attended by Er. Sanjiv Thapa, Member of the Executive Council, Pokhara University, Dr. Deepanjal Shrestha, Executive Director of the International Relations Center (IRC), Pokhara University and Prof. Binaya Kumar Mishra, Director of the School of Engineering, Pokhara University. Several faculty members and staff of the School of Engineering were also present and actively participated in the interactive discussions held during the MoU signing ceremony.

The MoUs aim to enhance institutional relationships and promote academic and cultural exchange in the fields of education, research, and other mutually beneficial activities. Both parties expressed strong commitment to working collaboratively toward the internationalization of higher education.

The agreed areas of cooperation include, but are not limited to:

  • Joint research projects
  • Joint conferences, seminars, and workshops
  • Joint cultural and academic exchange programs

Any specific collaborative program will be implemented based on mutual consent, availability of funds, and formal approval from both institutions. The detailed terms of cooperation for each activity will be agreed upon in writing prior to implementation.

The MoUs shall come into effect from the date of the final signature and will remain valid for an initial period of five (5) years. Thereafter, the agreements shall be automatically renewed annually unless terminated by either party with a six-month prior written notice.

This initiative reflects Pokhara University’s continued efforts to expand its international partnerships and enhance academic excellence through global collaboration
